Happy days!

Things continue to go well for Hermana Robertson. She is in the same area, with the same comp (Hermana Garcia), still serving as Sister Training Leaders. She is loving and cherishing every minute - every phone call she expresses her dismay at how fast time is flying! They work hard finding and continue to patiently love and teach families, children, less actives and whoever will listen! School is back in session which means less vacations which means more people to visit! A few weeks back all 4 Santiago Missions had a meeting with President Uchtdorf, needless to say it was amazing and Macy was so grateful he shook about 1000 missionaries hands! Two Sundays ago Macy was able to travel back to Macul (her previous area) and see the 4th member of a family they taught be baptized! Macy loves that family so much and the feelings are definitely reciprocated! I will let pics tell the rest.

Macy says she is discovering her creative side: hand-outs for zone conference and Plan of Salvation Links style!

Macy's first companion and trainer, Hermana Zacarias came to visit!
She has been home in Argentina for about a year.

Meet Macy's new best friend, Gaby!
HR & HG walk her every week for service.
This is Barbara who was baptized a couple weeks ago.
The picture below is the rest of her family who Macy and Hermana Webber
were able to teach and baptize

Macy lives close to a large stadium that they walk by daily. A few weeks ago Maroon 5 was there and she was able to get this shirt for $10 off the street, sadly no opportunity to teach them. Back Street Boys performed there this past week, still no teaching opportunities

Working hard and seeing the rewards

This area Macy is serving in was dead when she got there, now there are so many people she and Hermana Garcia are teaching I cannot keep them straight and they keep adding people every week! I'll tell about a few...they contacted a woman and her 2 kids who used to be members of The Church. They were very receptive and welcoming but it seems the woman might be a little into supernatural/magical stuff and has invited Macy and HG back for some "experiments". Macy thought it was hilarious, HG was a bit freaked out so they probably won't be following up.
Last week they contacted another very nice woman who wasn't interested in hearing about the Gospel but gave HR and HG some nice plants for their apartment.  They stopped by this week to say thank you and discovered the woman lives with 2 of her sisters and 2 nephews. Now they are teaching one sister and the 2 nephews who want HG & HR to come back every night!
People like to give HR and HG stuff, another woman they contacted (so they just met the woman!) could not believe they weren't wearing hats a quickly produced one for each of them. A few blocks later a lady was admiring Macy's hat and wanted to know where she got it. Macy was glad to pay it forward and gave the lady the hat, needless to say she was very happy and a little surprised.
They have contacted 2 other families (yay) and many other people but haven't had time or people are gone (its summer there) to follow up with all of them. However, they are very excited to have a Noche de Jogar with the Zunega family on Sunday - the dad, son and daughter are very active but the mom belongs to another religion. Macy says they are a great family and are really hoping to help them to become a forever family.
HR and HG were able to attend 2 meetings last week with Elder Juan Pablo Villar. He told the missionaries they can't teach about Jesus unless they know Him, followed by a discussion of Matthew 4. In a leadership meeting he reviewed the parable of the talents and then told the missionary leaders they could double their talents (baptisms) by talking to everyone. Macy said he was inspiring and dynamic. He has an article in the youth part of this month's Liahona.
For pday today the sisters in the area went to an interactive science museum that was a nice change of pace and pretty interesting. She sent pics but I can't get them from mail onto here for some reason. :[
Macy is doing great, so very grateful to be busy and have people willing to listen to their very important message.

ONE YEAR, A baptism & preparing to share the Gospel with Maroon 5

January 1 marked Macy's one year mark in the Mission. According to her, time is moving way to fast and needs to slow down. She and Hermana Garcia are working hard but with the start of summer vacation in Santiago it seems like the opportunities to visit with people have pretty much ceased. However, they are being creative and coming up with new ideas to reach out to people. A few Fridays ago they had a sports night at the church. Members showed up and brought their friends to play soccer and then enjoy an impressive potluck. Fun was had by all, contacts were made and another Sport night is in the works. Noche de Jugars are also fun and loved by all and they are looking forward to one this weekend with a member and his wife, who is not a member.
Baptism - 3 of 4 family members from Macy's last area were baptized last Sunday. It was a reunion of sorts as Macy and Hermana Webb (the companion she taught the family with) were able to attend the baptism even though neither serve in that area any more. Macy was thrilled to be reunited with her Macul ward family and celebrate this special event with all of them.
SO, Maroon 5 is performing a concert February 28 in Macy's area. Of all the places in the world for Macy's most favorite group to perform!! She takes it as a sign that it is her responsibility to share the gospel with the band (technically, to remind James Valentine of what he once knew). Her plan is to wait outside (their trailer, the arena, a hotel??) until they come out, flatter them and then teach. Stay tuned....

Moving on after 6 months

Update: Macy has spent the last six months in a neighborhood called Macul. Last week she was transferred to a new area, which includes a new apartment, new companion (Hermana Garcia from Nicaragua), new ward (much larger than Macul) and a new responsibility (Hermana training leader).

well i guess i can write an email this week.
its been very crazy. we have had to run home 2 nights in a row this week and no, we still did not make it back on time!!! lots of messages to President.
just getting to know the area pretty much, its really a pretty neighborhood. we just have to find people to teach!!! this was pretty cool though. sunday, the end of the week and we had not found one new person to teach, so we were determined to find a few this day. and we did!! 3!!!! but one of them was pretty dope. so we were walking by this park to go and visit someone else and i saw this guy sitting alone on a bench and i felt like maybe we should go talk to him, well we were already running late and so i didnt (bad bad bad hermana Robertson) then we went and visited who we needed to and came back the same way, well an hour later and he was still sitting there and this time the prompting was VERY strong, even though we were already late for a lesson, i knew we had to go and talk to him. so we went over. well we walked over and i
started talking to him and he said "actually im about to drink my wine so i wouldnt talk to me right now" im like bro, doesnt matter. and we kept talking, i promise he was sober in this moment, but he told us how hes an alcoholic and

its really hard for him. he wants to change but he just has no support from
anyone. i ended up telling him about how i felt very strongly that i needed to
talk to him, and how thats what led us to him. he was amazed and very happy!!! and hes VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE GOSPEL!!! we have a lesson with him tomorrow!!! pray for Nehemiah!!
also this is really funny. this week we had leader council, but i like to call it JEDI COUNCIL!!! we are all sitting in a circle and the hermana leaders and zone leaders from every zone go and sit next to each other. and then pres and the aps are all sitting in front, or like the middle of the circle. and at one point we all have to talk within our zones and then give numbers for the baptism goal this month and its just really funny, literally star wars comes right to my mind!!!!!! i thought davis and conner would be proud of me!!

but just wanted to share something i read in my personal study this morning. i was studying in PMG about why the Book of Mormon Prophets wrote the Book of
Mormon, and i really love 2 Nephi 4:15, "And upon these I write the things of my soul, and many of the scriptures which are engraven upon the plates of
brass. For my soul DELIGHTETH in the scriptures, and my heart pondereth them, and writeth them for the learning and the profit of my children." WE HAVE THE BOOK OF MORMON TO DELIGHT!!!! I LOVE THAT!!!! its soooo true, if youre
sad, read the Book Of Mormon, angry, Book of Mormon, happy, stay happy with the Book of Mormon!!!!! ITS ALWAYS THE ANSWER!!!!!
i love you all soooooooooooooo much!!!! have the best week ever!! anddddddd
GO BOMBERS!!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!

Back to normal

Since I haven't posted in a while, let me give some updates: Demonstrations and riotings have been going on in Santiago for the past 3-4 weeks. For almost a week missionaries were confined to their apartments, slowly work has progressed back to normal.  Things were a bit crazy with arson and looting but Macy never felt unsafe just very, very bored. Missionaries were pulled out of Bolivia last week for similar reasons so we are very grateful Santiago and Chile are settling down and continue to pray for peace there.
In the letter, the stuff in blue are my added notes.
Thanks for loving and praying for HR and all missionaries.

i did not even realize how EARLY IT IS IN WASHINGTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so i guess i will write you guys an email this week! (5am our time when she got on to chat)
Isidro, we did not get to see him all week because he was super sick, but on saturday we went just to see how he was and invite him to church, he was better so he came to church on sunday!!! tonight we have a lesson with him!!
Lois, ACTUALLY A BOSS!!! (HR and HW street contacted him last week, he is Haitian and speaks French, a little Spanish and a little English). he does have a rough time like understanding things but we are trying to teach as basic as we can. we also invited him to be baptized this week, he is having a rough time understanding the priesthood so we will have to teach that again. he says hes already been baptized and received the Holy Ghost.....soooo we will work on that!!! but we went Saturday to try and invite him to church, not there, tried calling, nothing. so we hoped  for the best and BOOM WALKS IN LOIS !!!! ALL BY HIMSELF!!! we were soooo happy to see him there!! hes super awesome! Then he came to the charla so hes doing great!!! also have a lesson with him tonight!
yolanda, havent been able to contact. we are planning on having a "drop her" lesson this week.
alvaro and carmen, ALVARO TOLD US HE BELIEVES IN GOD!"!!! (Alvaro and Carmen are siblings, when HR & HW started teaching him a few months ago he was athiest) andddd hes praying for things he needs, he told us that he prayed that people would come to his moms bday party and they did! they almost came to church on sunday.....THIS WEEK!!!!
we havent been able to find a few of our news this week, but thats okay! we still are INCREDIBLY BUSY!! on friday, like actually every single person let us into their house, it was crazy. we contacted this guy named Alfonso a few days before, and i was like "do you like to read?" no. "do you like to pray?" no. "do you like music?" YES!! okay, so we left him "paz en Cristo" to listen to for when we came back. so we wet back friday and he told us he listened to it and other songs too!! he was like "i listen to a lot of religious music, but no music hits me so hard like the mormon music. QUE BUENO HOMBRE! then he was telling us how important his family is to him so we showed him a picture of the temple and he said "i love mormons, they worry about detail" but hes not down for baptism yet haha. soon. it was just a crazy funny situtaion!!!
CHARLA (fireside) THIS WEEK!!!! FINALLY!! IT WAS AWESOME!!! OUR CHOIR WAS ACTUALLY SO GOOD!! and it was lots of fun seeing all the missionaries!
also yesterday h webb got scratched by a cat so we had to go to the clinic hahaha, but all is well!!!
no, i could not find a camera. the elders told me they thought they saw some in this other store so we are gonna go look today. PRAY FOR ME!!!! I NEED ONE! DYING TO TAKE PICS OF EVERYTHING BUT MY CAMERA IS DEAD!!!
and yesss, new missionary handbook. its pretty chill, a lot more personal responsibility yes. im sure we will get more into it as time goes on.
Yesterday the Stricklands (Senior missionary couple) sent me their monthly letter. they sent me this really awesome talk that Dieter F. Uchtdorf gave in a womens conference called "Happiness, your Heritage" and whoaaaa it was awesome!!! like ya for women but obvi applies to everyone!!! he talked about how we need to be creative and compassionate. legit dad came right into my mind when i was reading this because dad always creates these crazy awesome ideas!! but he says " Our birthright, the purpose of our great voyage, is to seek and experience eternal happiness. One of the ways to find this is by CREATING THINGS." he then started talking about how it doesnt need to be something crazy and extravagant, "Creation means bringing into existence something that didnt exist before - colorful gardens, harmonious homes, family memories, glowing laughter." "If you feel incapable of creating, start small. try to see how many smiles you can create, write a letter of appreciation, learn a new skill." but i think one of my fav things he said "As you take the normal opportunities of your daily life and create something of beauty and helpfulness, you improve not only the world around you BUT ALSO the world WITHIN YOU." WHAT GOLD!!!
but I loved it, if you can, you guys should read the rest because then he says SO MANY MORE AMAZING THINGS about compassion that i would love to share but this email is already so long, i def lost dads attention...hehe. but i like his invitation of simple things to CREATE! A smile, a new friend maybe, CREATE SIMPLE THINGS!!!!
i love you all soooooo much!!! HAVE THE BEST WEEK EVER!!!!!

Email love

I AM STAYING HERE IN MACUL WITH HERMANA WEBB!!! Was this what i was expecting? actually no, not at all, I and everyone else and their cats thought I was outta here, but here I am!!
Yes, i am excited to be here still, this cambio is 7 weeks too so it so its a longgg one! Which means though that I will get to celebrate my birthday here!!! Which is very fun because my friends are here!!! anyway it was A great week this week!! WE PUT A DATE WITH YOLANDA!!!!! November 2!!! We hope and PRAY ALL THE TIME that she pulls through for us, she said she is totally down to preapre for this day....then she didnt come to church, so thats rough. thats okay though, theres still time. This week we have planned to talk to her more about HOW IMPORTANT it is to come to church becasue SHE IS MISSING OUT ON BENDICIONES!!! but it will work out!!
Thursday we had the Reunion de Nuevos and it was good, afterwards we went to the bodega (because poor Hermana Webb needs more clothes!!) and I actually ended up finding these 3 super cute skirts so thats fun!!! Afterwards we had a lesson with Isidro.......OH WOW!!!!! It was intense, we went and he was like, "i have some questions , hermanas" ohhhh boyyyyyy, here we go!!! and so then he pulled out his Bible and just started pulling out all these scriptures and asking us ALL THESE QUESTIONS!!! for like 30 minutes and wow. we told him we would study his questions and give him good answers becasue we had a meeting to get to, but it was crazy. I have never had an amigo quite like him!!! It was fun though for me to research all his questions and find bomb answers...now we just need to figure out, where do we make him use his faith and not asnwer his questions??!! Went well though!! Then The Elders had a baptism on Saturday and Isidro came to that and WOWOWOWOW, he showed up late so he missed the actual ordinance part lol, but thats okay becasue afterwards we could show him the font with Bishop and it was BOMB!!!!! bishop was like bearing hardcore testimony and helping him so much!!! and he even got his whatsapp!!! basically with Bishop on our side, we are VERY HAPPY AND EXCITED FOR ISIDRO!!!!
We found some other new awesome people this week too, we have lotssss of lessons this next week so it will be a GREAT WEEK!!!! busy!!!
On friday we ate churrascos, from the pic, its SOOO YUMMY!! its like this yummy chilean sandiwch, kinda like the ones we got at the chilean restaurant in Orem. but they were soooooooooooooooooooooo good, i love me a good churrasco!!!!
Basically like it was just a reallyy good working week for us this week, nothing else weird happened i dont think. which is a good thing!!!
AND OH MY GOSH, I HOPE YOU ALL ARE STAYING CAUGHT UP ON THE BOOK OF MORMON VIDEOS BECAUSE WOOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!! FLAT OUT AMAZING!!! I love the last one, about Lehi's vision. You really can see the worry and sadness in Lehi´s face when he sees Laman and Lemuel turn away. It really makes one think about how our Heavenly Father would feel, if Lehi is that sad, what about our Heavenly Father? The one who loves us enough to send his Son to die for US!!! And all he wants for us is to return to him!!!! and it is something so simple like partaking of some fruit. An invitation we gave in our last noche de hogar about the tree of life was to think of about where we are at on this path. are we like the group who was lost in the darkness? are we the group who ya partook of the fruit but looks back at the people in the great and spacious building and feels ashamed? or are we FULLY partaking of the fruit, joyfully? Then, wherever we are WHAT CAN WE DO NOW TO BE BETTER???? can we help other poeple that are lost, find the fruit? is there something we can do to grab tighter to the rod? or to not look back? really though, wherever we are, Our Savior will help us get where we need to be. He loves us more than we can comprehend and just wants us to return to our Father in Heaven. all we have to do is trust Him and I KNOW WE CAN PARTAKE OF THIS AWESOME FRUIT WITH JOY!!!!!
YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! HAVE THE BEST WEEK!!!

"BOMB WEEK"

Hermana Robertson and Hermana Webb reported a fantastic week as they found people they had been searching for for a while and finding new people who they were able to teach! HR told me about 10 people they had lessons with and will be meeting with again! 9 months into her mission the harvest finally makes itself available (I'm sure HR's faith never waivered, unfortunately I have doubted a little). In your prayers include: Miri, Isidro, Luiz, Felipe, Irma, Luis, Carmen Gloria and her family, Sabrina & Amelia, Alviro and Christian - if that's too much you can just pray for HR & HW's friends in Macul :)

HR & HW serve in a ward with a set of Elders. Elder Goodman has been there a while but Elder Slade just joined him straight from the MTC last week. Small world - Elder Slade is from Orem, Utah and played against the Bombers the last 2 years in the Utah bball tournament. No hard feelings though, they became quick friends. HR loves her district and Zone - they have lots of fun together and really support and encourage one another.

No pics today - the internet cafe wouldn't email pics. HR is doing great, appreciates emails and would love letters. She loves being a missionary and has never been happier in her life.

Lovin Life

Not too much news this week - President Brotherson has adopted a daily 4-hour study program for their mission.  Between that and her responsibilities as a Sister Training Leader she and HW didn't have too much time to teach.  Weather is already getting warmer which makes Macy very happy.  Their oven has been broken for weeks but the bathroom lights work again!

A Letter

Do to technical difficulties Hermana R did not think she was going to be able to call us so she wrote a letter (Yay!)

HOLA FAMILIAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
well then. i guess i will spice it up this week for the blog folk with my own words.....
IT WAS A SUPER AWESOME WEEK!!!!!! first we had zone conference on Wednesday and it was really good as always. good food, cool missionaries and MUCH TO LEARN!!! also hermana Inclan was there and that was very exciting for me becasue i love her so much and she is doing really good in her new area :)
We also got to do service for Mario this week with the Elders, that was a BLAST!!!! and poor poor mario was so grateful because he is just having a super rough time with his mom and everything else going on, he needed some company and help fixing his house. then we were able to have a really awesome lesson with him about why it is so important to attend church every sunday and THE SPIRIT WAS SO STRONG!!!!!! he almost went to church.......THIS WEEK!!!!
also our oven is broken right? and so this old man came to try and fix it on Friday and it was not working hahaha, he was probably there for like 4 hours duirng our studies and it was actually hilarious. interesting man....still we don't have an oven but he will be back tomororow to fix it..I HOPE HE DOES BECASUE IM DYING FOR THESE COOKIES DAVIS GAVE ME!!!! THEY ARE JUST SITTING IN THE CUPBOARD TAUNTING ME!!!! but anyway. after that we had lunch with this woman who just complains about everyone and we both felt very uncomfortable haha, but then after ALL THAT CRAZY we had a lesson with Deysi. AND WOW YET AGAIN THE SPIRIT WAS SOOOOOO STRONG!!!!! she always has like a million questions and always wants to talk about who knows what, but this time she just sat and listened AND CAME TO CHURCH SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!! WE ARE VERY HAPPY ABOUT THAT!!! so that is Deysi right now.
We had a meeting with the Hermanas on saturday too, so we really did not have a ton of time to just work, work, work this week, but holy smoke, when we do get to MIRACLES NEVER CEASE!!!!! it is amazing, we will have 2 hours after meetings and before we need to be back home and we find people who we haven't found in weeks, or a new person super awesome or we just teach powerful lessons. i cannot tell you how much i love being a missionary, never have I felt so close to my Savior and I know without a doubt He is leading us to these miracles everyday, He is helping us find oppurtunities to serve, He is giving us the energy after a long day THIS IS HIS WORK AND I AM BEYOND HAPPY TO BE A PART OF IT!!!! I know he lives, I know he is in EVERY ASPECT OF OUR LIVES, we just have to see it. And the joy this gospel brings, wow. never forget to share it with your friends!!! always share the light of the gospel, everyone needs it and it doesnt have to be something huge. our stake president is having us invite all the members (as a family) to make a list of 10 names of people who live close to you, maybe friends, people you know, whoever really. but as a family make this list of 10 names. then with "The Spirit of Prayer" as a family pray to choose 2 of these people. choose and then ACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! INVITE!!!!!!!!!!!! nothing big, maybe to dinner, dessert, family home evening, who knows, just something little. then PRACTICE how you will do it!!!!! if you already have the words, it is a wholeeeee lot easier to do it!!!! i invite you guys to try it out:) there is a wholeeee lot of happiness in sharing the gospel and I know it will only bring you guys more blessings!!
What else. I have actually been a bit sick again this week, i have this mad cough and sore throat, headache thing but it will be okay. and diarrea monday again...idk why it is legit every monday...but the traditition continues!!!!! lol.
Today was reallyyyy fun, we woke up bright and early to get to the temple session at 9 and the elders came with us, so that was fun. then afterwards we went to Carls Jr (which yes i know, sounds terrible but here it is actually the best fast food, and its superrrrr good) so that was yummy. CHICKEN STRIPS ALWAYS!!!!! then we went grocery shopping and to the mall, i am getting a bit bored of my clothes...just cause its winter and i cant really use all my clothes because I would be cold, so we thought we would go to the mall before we came to write and we were just looking for sweet offers...well no luck UNTIL the very last store!!!!!!!!! and i found 2 dresses, a skirt and a shirt for like 20 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!  i hope all is well in the tri. this week is gonna be another crazy insane week, but thats how i like my life:) anyway, I LOVE YOU ALL SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!! THANK YOU FOR BEING THE BEST FAMILY EVER!!!!!!!! I AM SO LUCKY!!!!!!!!! have a good week!!!!!!

CHANGES

Last week was transfers but since Hermana Inclan and Macy had been together for only six weeks Macy wasn't planning on anything changing. Not the case. Hermana Inclan was transferred out, Macy is now training Hermana Webb and Macy was made a Hermana Training Leader. So things went from being slow to there is not enough time in the day to get everything done overnight. Macy would prefer to be busy and things will eventually slow down. All the business isn't too exciting to write about - meetings, errands, moving missionaries, etc.

A little freaky, a little slow

HR and Hermana Inclan have been doing a lot of contacting lately and a tiny bit of teaching. Of course they wish it were the other way around but they’re doing their best and leaving it in the Lord’s hands. HR and HI have run into some sticky situations in the last 2 weeks with black magic, satanism and being stalked. 😳 Fortunately, they have great Elders and a compassionate Bishop in their area who are watching out for them. We are grateful for everyone’s prayers for our missionaries and know they help! HR loves the ward and have met a lot of great friends, in fact HR was thrilled to run into part of the Cuevas family - Luis’ brother and his lovely wife!
Last Pday their district went to the Santiago zoo which Macy really enjoyed. Today HR and HI were able to attend the temple for Pday. HR is happy and healthy and loves sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with anyone that will listen.

Lots of Contacting

Despite HR & HI’s enthusiasm many contacting appointments fell through but they aren’t giving up! They are working with some really great people from the ward and continue to teach English classes once a week. We officially started summer while Chile officially started winter  - HR bought a warmer coat, a beanie and a few pairs of pants.
